Paul Brown

Paul Brown is a former environment correspondent for The Guardian newspaper, and still writes columns for the paper. He began working as a reporter on a weekly paper in Sussex and progressed to evening and morning newspapers before joining The Guardian in 1981. In his role as environment correspondent, he travelled to more than 50 countries, and to the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

He has written 10 books − eight on environmental subjects, including four for children − and written scripts for television documentaries.

In 1997, he began training journalists by running workshops in developing countries. These have been for a number of different organisations, including The Guardian Foundation and the UN Environment Programme, and he has now conducted more than 40 workshops in 20 countries.

He is a fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge, the Geologists’ Association, the Royal Geographical Society, and the Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.
